𝗜𝗦𝗔 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁On January 18, the ISA Philadelphia Section had the privilege of supporting and participating in the Future City Philadelphia 2025 competition. This annual event brings together middle school students from across the region to present their creative and innovative visions of sustainable, futuristic cities. The competition not only showcases the students’ ingenuity but also emphasizes the critical role that engineering and technology play in solving real-world challenges.ISA Philadelphia participated as a special award sponsor and contributed not only a financial prize, but also our team of volunteers: Sunil Doddi Fred DiPasquale and Brian B. Ivey, P.E. who evaluated submissions for the ISA-Samuel Herb Automation Excellence Award. This award recognizes projects that exemplify the effective use of automation and engineering principles to enhance city design and functionality.The competition highlighted the remarkable creativity and technical understanding of the next generation of engineers. Students addressed challenges like energy efficiency, waste management, transportation, and community well-being through thoughtful and innovative solutions. It was inspiring to see the emphasis many teams placed on leveraging automation and technology to create smarter, more sustainable cities.ISA Philadelphia is proud to have contributed to this impactful event. Supporting STEM initiatives like Future City is central to our mission of promoting education, fostering innovation, and inspiring the engineers and technologists of tomorrow.
