Terms of Use

Purpose

Thank you for being part of our community. ISA Connect is a service for the International Society of Automation to advance the technical competence of the global automation community. The purpose of ISA Connect is to collaborate with your peers, benefit from their experience, and foster technical conversations.

ISA Connect is not to be used for any promotions. To ensure the best possible experience for all, we have established these terms of use for contributors.

Agreement

By joining and using ISA Connect, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and consider the guidelines.

To maintain an environment that encourages both respectful and productive discussions, ISA reserves the right to discipline users, delete posts or cancel accounts for anyone who violate these rules.

Your use of ISA Connect confirms that you have read and familiarized yourself with the following rules and guidelines and ISA's Code of Conduct. Questions should be directed to our community managers via the Contact Us link on this site.

Rules

Non-commercial

Do not use ISA Connect for sharing information for commercial purposes. This includes but is not limited to advertisement or promotion of products, or services from yourself or others. ISA Connect is not a place to advertise programs, products or events (not even ISA ones).

Job Solicitations

ISA Connect is not to be used to solicit career advancement in terms of seeking a new job, posting resumes, or general hiring related inquiries. Instead, use ISA's Career Center to search for job opportunities and job seekers’ resumes.

Prohibited Content

All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited. Do not post anything that you would not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.

Legal compliance

Information posted on the discussion groups and in the libraries is available for all to see, and comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.

Respect for others

Focus on the content of posts and not on the people making them. Please respect everyone and their contributions. If you feel the need to include a disclaimer on your post (i.e. I don’t mean to disrespect, or with all due respect, etc.), please consider rewording before posting.

Guidelines

Sharing experiences

Sharing of information or lessons learned from projects or activities is encouraged, but only for the purpose of providing learning examples. This does not include attribution to perceived deficiencies of products or services. In a similar manner, it does not include promotion of one product or service over a competitor.

Intellectual property and proprietary information

Post content that you have personally created or have permission to use and have properly attributed to the content creator.

All content posted to ISA Connect is subject to use by ISA to promote the platform within the industry. It is advisable to contact the owner of any material you would like to reuse.

Etiquette

In addition to the above rules and guidelines there are several general elements of etiquette that should be considered in your interactions on this forum.

No need to include text of previous posts

In contrast to Email conversations, there is no need, nor is it appropriate to include the content of all previous messages in your response. The tool threads entries automatically without the need for repetition.

State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line.

This allows everyone to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for others to search the archives by subject.

Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals, not to the entire list.

Do this by using the "Reply to Sender" link in every message.

Do not send administrative messages, such as “remove me from the list,” to the group.

Instead, use the web interface to change your settings or to remove yourself from a list. If you are changing email addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin under your new email address. Simply change your settings.
