The purpose of this presentation is to present the availability of wireless technologies for applications within and outside the industrial plant environment. The discussions will address both proprietary and standards-based IEEE technologies and the selection criteria for choosing the correct technology that meets the needs of functionality and IT security, with a focus on practical use.
Presenter: Paul Mercier
Paul has over 30 years of instrumentation, controls and communications experience, having spent the past 25 years designing and applying radio-based SCADA and Telemetry solutions, and is a Certified Wireless Network Administrator. Paul has been employed by Phoenix Contact for the past 15 years, enjoying various roles, while based from his home in Fort Worth, Texas.
Presenter: Kamau Brown
Kamau joined Phoenix Contact’s contact apprentice program after studying mechanical engineering at NC State. After completing the apprenticeship program, Kamau moved into the Project Sales Engineer role supporting the engineering community of project specifiers at both the consulting and end user levels. Throughout that time, he’s designed and implemented a variety of wireless systems. Kamau is based in New Jersey and covers the Northeast region.
