The Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal was established in 1957 as one of the first self-financing engineering colleges in the country. The institute undertakes sponsored research programs supported by funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, AICTE, and the Ministry of Environmental Sciences; it also has collaborative research programs in association with premier research laboratories and institutes in India and abroad.
The Student Section is based in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering and is open to students from all departments to further their pursuit of knowledge in robotics and automation, and other related fields.

Guest Lecture on using blockchain technology to enabled usage of Microgrid and Smart Grid capability in Power Grids for efficient usage. Mechatronics Online Learning Program
This Online Program conducted in collaboration with the Mechatronics Peer Programme aimed to support students unable to access lab facilities in the wake of the pandemic, by imparting essential skills through free and open-source software so they may better perform in the labs in future. The program was met with eager participation from all students in the department and received critical acclaim from the faculty. The recorded lectures for the program can be viewed on YouTube.
