ABOUT NIRMA UNIVERSITY
Renowned industrialist and philanthropist Dr Karsanbhai K Patel, the founder of the Nirma Group of Industries, established the Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF) in the year 1994 with a vision to promote higher education and provide excellent educational facilities to the youth in India. In 1995, the Nirma Institute of Technology – affiliated with Gujarat University – was established by the NERF. It was followed by the establishment of the Nirma Institute of Management in 1996.
In the year 2003, the Government of Gujarat approved the proposal of the NERF to found the Nirma University, Ahmedabad. Hence, the Nirma University was established under a special Act passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly. The University Grants Commission (UGC) duly recognized the University under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act.
1. Industrial Cybersecurity workshop.
The workshop was conducted on cisco webex and more than 50 Participants participated in the 2 Day online workshop on “Industrial Cybersecurity”.
Day-1, Speaker: Mr. Prashanth AC. He presented the keynote address on “Introduction to OT/IIOT/IACS”.
Day-2 Speaker: Mr. Nikhil Shah. He presented on “Role of Artificial intelligence/Machine Learning in future of cybersecurity”.
Day-2 Speaker: Mr. Rohit Sharma. He talked on topics such as “Information Gathering & Understanding of Malware”, “ Cyber Crimes & IT act”.
2. Placement Preps- Webinar Series:
The representatives of ISA Students’ Chapter, NIRMA University Ahmedabad had organized a series of webinars “PLACEMENT PREPS”. The series comprised of three webinars namely:
- Profile Building
- Campus To Corporates
- Soft-Skill Development
The motive of the series was to give an outlook to the attendees who planned on embarking on their journey in the corporate world. The speakers who presented were spotless and cleared every query which was upheld by the attendees.

3. Syzito- Group Discussion Competition:
An online group discussion competition was organized on 21st March 2021.
With cut-throat competition governing placements in most colleges, recruiters often use group discussion as a tool to shortlist students. The event aimed at giving a mock-up of it to the students and help them prepare better.
There were four tracks
- Cybersecurity and impact of industrial attacks
- Indian Economy- what's the way ahead?
- New Digital laws, use of Data and Privacy
- Should India follow Canadian government policy?
Apart from these, many social programs were conducted, including visits to Prakash school for intellectual disabilities, visit Apang Manav Mandal, Stem cell donation drive, and visit to Hiramani old-age home.
ISA - Student Chapter Nirma university conducts a visit every year for the last five years to interact with the specially-abled students by organizing a fun and joyful event for the students of Prakash School.
