Happy New Year District Leaders in the Southern North American Region!

As many of you heard we are now part of a new ISA District, Southern North America.  We are comprised of sections from District 3, 7, and 8.  We represent one of the four North American Districts and one of eight Districts worldwide.  

Please reply to this post to introduce yourself to the other leaders in the Southern North America District.

I am Dean Bickerton from the New Orleans Section formerly in District 7.  I am the District Vice President for 2022.  I first got involved with ISA in college as an Electrical Engineering student at Auburn University.  I participated in ISA tabletops and events in Birmingham and Mobile early in my career as an Allen-Bradley specialist for a distributor in Montgomery, AL.  I became an active board member of the ISA New Orleans Section starting in 1998 while working for Rockwell Automation.  After a brief move to Dallas, TX from 2005 to 2010, I returned to New Orleans and became active on the board again.  I have held several section board positions and am a past-President of New Orleans Section.

I currently serve on the ISA Digital Transformation Advisory Committee and ISAConnect Champion Committee in addition to my duties on the ISA Geographic Assembly as your District Vice President.  I really want to work to increase member value at the section level to grow more active membership and participation in ISA.

My name is Phillip Swinson, and I'm currently the president of the ISA Tampa Bay Section
I'm also the Regional Automation Manager at Electro Design Engineering, a gold level Rockwell System Integrator.

I joined the ISA in 2006, and have been very fortunate to be part of an extremely active section,
This is due in large part to having a board with 15 members that are both passionate about automation, and in engaging the local market and having fun.
We are able to present regular webinars from subject matter experts on varied topics, as well as host in person networking events with things like behind the scenes brewery tours prior to the pandemic.

It's been fun engaging with our local market, and I'm enjoying the exposure to the global network that InConnect is providing.

My name is Kraig Kmiotek, and I am the Marketing Chair of the ISA Tampa Bay Section and a Board Member of the ISA Analysis Division. Outside the ISA, I am the Product Manager for Process Wet Chemistry at Metrohm USA. 

I joined the ISA in 2021 and have enjoyed becoming an active member of the Automation world. I began working at Metrohm USA in 2013 as an Applications Specialist before taking a short hiatus to step outside my comfort zone and work in the Pharmaceutical industry. In 2018 I returned to Metrohm USA and took on the role of Product Specialist before being promoted to  Product Marketing Manager and, finally, Product Manager.  My biggest passion is working to increase brand awareness through strategic marketing plans and supporting my colleagues at Metrohm USA and globally.

In my personal life, I have a seven-year-old Boston Terrier named Satchmo, who can be seen riding with me in my Jeep most weekends! I also love growing orchids and various fruit trees. 

I look forward to working with everyone more and becoming more active in this great society!

Hi! I am Kris McGarvey, 2022 President for the Brazos Section.  I joined the Brazos Section in 2016 and have served in a variety of positions in the local chapter. This is my second and final term as President and my goal is to build the volunteer base and ensure we have succession plans in place that will help sustain the  chapter.
I am in my 31st year at Dow Chemical where I am a Process Analyzer Technologist. My passion and focus at Dow is on Analyzer Reliability and Data Quality.​ Since 2010, I have been working in a Dow- Siemens partnership to develop the ASM toolset and bring the value of process analyzers to a new level.
