    ISA Sarnia Section - March 2021 President’s Message

    Hello ISA Sarnia Section Members;

    We are usually entering into the busiest time of our Section year but due to the Covid-19 virus hanging on and the ensuing guidelines we are finding it a little tougher than normal. We are pleased with all of you for participating in whatever we can seem to plan and execute.

    As I am old school I still attempt to have any face to face meeting that we can assemble so if the guidelines change I will still be going with any meeting at the SGCC that we can have as long as we can follow and meet the guidelines as dictated. For those that are still not comfortable we are hoping to add a remote virtual conferencing feature. It worked well at our November meeting where we had a virtual speaker presentation, members dialed in and we also had members at the SGCC for the sit down meal. It worked great. Please stay tuned and if you have any ideas for virtual speakers please let us know.

    So far we have had a virtual executive meeting and selected a vice president to take over for me in July (as I believe that it is time for me to back out a little). So the next president will be Kalpen and we have volunteers to progress past Kalpen. A very good meeting.

    We are looking at our March member meeting to see if the covid-19 guidelines change and we can get back to the SGCC and have a virtual speaker or if one of us has a presentation then we may proceed with that. If we cannot we will be looking at the meeting being totally virtual and a meeting invite will be sent out.

    The show of course has been cancelled. We are not sure about the golf tournament but we will know shortly. It probably doesn’t look good for us at present but will let you all know.

    The May AGM is at present up in the air also.

    On two positive notes we did roll out our 23rd edition of our ISA Sarnia Section Reference Guide to the Measurement & Control Market for 2021 and also still be supported the four scholarships for the Lambton College students.

    As we embark on the remaining months of our 2020-2021 year we are still be looking for new members, executives and committee assistance.

    It should be noted that ISA did upgrade their website and it looks good and works well.  Log in a take a look and if you see or have any issues please forward your concerns. ISA member services have also released “ISA Connect” for the use of all members and their communities. Take a look as everyone was sent out an email invitation. Please log in at your leisure.

    Any comments or concerns please let your Executive know. Remember any unspoken ideas or concerns are wasted thoughts unless we inform and act on them.

    Again I intend to keep you all informed as to what we are still doing or not doing as we step through this Covid-19 virus that still has us in its grip. Be safe and continue to adhere to our Covid-19 guidelines.

    Regards

    Mike Murray
