    What is Software Defined Networking?

    A common buzz word that has circulated in recent years is “Software Defined.” While that phrase typically is followed by “Networking” there are other applications that have taken the same descriptor, like Software Defined WAN (SDWAN) or Software Defined Radio. In this discussion we’ll explore what Software Defined Networking (SDN) is and how it works. However, and more importantly, we’ll discuss applications of SDN and how it differs from more traditional methods of networking. Ultimately, this discussion will attempt to answer the question of “Why should I care?” about SDN.
