  • ISA Birmingham Section October Meeting

    Everyone is invited and urged to attend the next meeting of the ISA Birmingham Section.  This will be an in-person setting with a technical presentation and an opportunity to meet and greet each other.  Also, please invite any prospects for membership and any work associates who is interested in ISA and technical information.

    Presentation:  “Remote SCADA Control for Renewable Generation

     

    • Abstract: This presentation will cover a high-level overview of Southern Company’s Renewable Generation Fleet and share how they have provided the flexibility for Operations Teams to remotely control renewable facilities across the US.

    • Bio: Matthew started his career as an intern at the Mercedes-Benz assembly plant in Vance, Ala., while attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, he worked as a Process Control Consultant with PASS, Inc. for more than seven years, supporting DCS and PLC control systems for heavy industries across the Southeast. Matthew joined Southern Company in 2015, providing controls and tuning support for Southern’s fossil fleet. In 2017, he began supporting renewable energy control and SCADA systems. Matthew served as the SCADA system architect for the Renewable Operations Center (ROC), which monitors and controls renewable sites across the United States. Today, he serves as the Supervisor for the I&C Renewables Project Support team.
