Business & Education Highlight: Formulating an Industrial Automation Engineering Degree Program

    4 October | 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. EDT
    Process Control & Instrumentation Series
Join us for this third and last in a series of three webinars offered as a precursor to our Process Industry Track as part of the ISA 2022 Automation & Leadership Conference to be held 7-9 November in Galveston, TX.

Our Speaker: Kelvin Erickson, Professor Electrical & Computer Engineering Missouri University of Science & Technology In 2007, ISA convened an Automation Engineering Curriculum Committee of industry and academia and developed educational objectives for a B.S. Automation Engineering degree. Progress has been slow, but there are now a few B.S. Automation Engineering Technology degree programs. There are institutions offering undergraduate certificates and undergraduate minors as an adjunct to a B.S. Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering degree, but a B.S. Automation Engineering degree is still elusive. The draft degree criteria will be presented and implementations of all or parts of the B.S. in Automation Engineering will be described, as well as discussion on the importance of input from a variety of business/industry and academic contributors towards its ultimate success.
