Excellent idea! Student turnover made a number of Student Sections fail. Reengaging the faculty and letting them know the new policy is less paperwork for the students should definitely help reinvigorate things!

One thing which may be helpful is re-engaging with disestablished Student Sections which may have failed due to the onerous requirements of the past. A logical approach would be to solicit student members first, then propose a Student Chapter once you get a few members and faculty interest in the continual promotion of a chapter and student membership.
The website link on Student Membership does a nice job in promoting the value - Students- ISA
The attached Student Chapter Guidance for Sections Power Point Presentation answers the who, what, where, when, and how of Student Chapters.

Good day all - hope everyone is having a great week!
We recently started a new student chapter in addition to one we already have that has been running for a couple of years.
One thing I have found over the years is starting student chapters and maintaining them is a real challenge and takes time and effort. But that is one reason I am as involved as I am in ISA is to give back to the automation community.
The importance of raising up a new generation of automation professionals cannot be understated - it is extremely important to the industries we serve and to the future of ISA. I found a couple ways to get things going with the help of the board members on our team. One of those ways is to start a student scholarship at the university if the staff would help start a chapter. Let me know what has worked for you.
