Greetings from the ISA Omaha Section, originally referred to as the Missouri Valley Section, prior to May ,1956. ISA Omaha was formally granted its charter in 1956. Robert ”Bob” Plumb was one of the original founders.

The Omaha Section of ISA and ISA District 6 was initially referred to, in name, as the “Instrument Society of America”. The name was changed later to the “Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society” and again modified to its current name—The International Society of Automation”.

Since the founding of ISA in Pittsburg, Pa in 1945, the objective of the Society is to advance the arts and sciences related to the theory, design, manufacture ,and use of instruments and controls in the various sciences and technologies.

During its 64+ years, our Omaha Section has been continuously challenged with changes in instrumentation and control technology. Fortunately, our membership has been challenged as well. ISA has provided leadership and continues to educate, certify ( both CAP-Certified Automation Professional, and CCST-Certified Control Systems Technician), and encourage membership.

The Omaha Section continues to strive to support the objectives of the society.

ISA Omaha Section, as part of ISA District 6, maintains, currently, two ISA Student Sections. Northwest Iowa Community College, located in Sheldon Iowa, and Bismarck State College, located in Bismarck, North Dakota. Of note, both have excelled at Student Competition’s at the ISA District 6 level.

Also of note—Northwest Iowa Community College, during the 2007 ISA International Student Competition were the Silver Medalists! A picture of the 2007 team will be evident and added to the ISA Connectivity library, On the left is Stephen R. Huffman, 2007 ISA President ,and on the right is the 2008 President elect, Kim Miller Dunn.
