  • Section Meeting November 10, 2020 - Magnetic Flow Meters: Versatility in Industrial Applications

     Flow measurement is vital across every industry that utilizes liquids. Instrumentation manufacturers have been investing huge capital into analyzing the changing needs of industrial markets in order to improve their offerings to the world. While there are many ways to measure flow, this presentation will focus on the rapidly growing use of Magnetic Flow Meter technology and the applications suitable for its use across a wide range of industries. Discussion on the technology inner workings will give insight and a greater understanding of the flow options available for tough applications.

     

    Recent studies of the industrial flow market in N. America are suggesting massive growth in the use of Magnetic Flow Meters through this decade.  Rising interest in highly accurate and precise equipment for flow calibration is driving growth of intelligent meters.  This is happening in part to the emerging on-board diagnostics of transmitters being developed and improved. Increased manufacturer investments in Mag Meters has widened their use as a potential solution for tough applications.

    Jack is a Los Angeles local account manager from Innovative Process Controls, a vendor and advisor for Process Instrumentation applications and a team comprised entirely of engineers. Has worked across a great deal of industrial and municipal applications over the course of several years with broad industry knowledge. Mechanical Engineering background with a focus on Fluid Dynamics and Control Systems.

    The Los Angeles chapter of ISA is starting an Awards Program for projects completed by ISA Los Angeles members. The three categories are:
    1. Manufacturing/batch processing/food processing/chemical plant

    2. Power plant/geothermal/renewable energy/solar/wind/alternate energy

    3. Hydrocarbon processing/production/terminals/pipelines/natural gas storage and pipelines
