There are several process industry applications that utilize the absorption of a particular chromophore within a process stream to indicate presence/absence, concentration and process control. Here we want to describe a simple and economic approach to monitoring the color of liquids across a broad range of process industries that have direct cost benefit to the respective end users. We will define color as the absorbance of light over a broad spectrum of energy and give examples within each industry.
