  • Lunch & Learn: Noontime Zoom Programs on the way!

The Rochester Section is planning a series of "Lunch and Learn" online presentations - 1 hour to 1-1/2 hour Zoom presentations on basic controls-related topics:

Our first series will be Basics of Instrument Engineering - the program will cover the most-often encountered process measurements and how to properly spec instruments to suit the applications.

    Program 1:
GENERAL OVERVIEW - We'll talk about the types of process measurements typically encountered in a chemical manufacturing environment, and we'll go over the considerations that need to be taken into account to achieve a successful instrument application.

    Program 2:
We'll talk specifically about TEMPERATURE instruments - RTDs, Thermocouples, Thermistors, Infrared/UV sensors.

    Program 3:
We'll talk specifically about PRESSURE instruments - Absolute Pressure, Gauge Pressure, Differential Press (dP).

    Program 4:
We'll talk specifically about LEVEL instruments - Contacting-types Bubbler(dP), Float/Mechanical, RF Capacitance, Liquid Head (dP), Thermal, Non-Contacting types Nuclear, Ultrasonic, & Radar.

    Program 5:
We'll talk specifically about FLOW measurement systems - Weir and Flume, Variable Area, Positive Displacement, Orifice Plates, V-Cones & Wedges (dP), Turbines, Vortex, Magnetic, Coriolis, and Ultrasonic.

    Program 6:
We'll talk specifically about ANALYZERS - pH, ORP, Viscometers, Conductivity, Gas Monitoring, Refractive Index, Spectrometers and Spectrophotometers.

These sessions will be aimed at an audience of younger, less experienced techs and engineers who have an interest in learning more about the I&C discipline.

More to follow soon on dates and logistics!
