Abstract: In the aftermath of the SolarWinds breach, what is the state of cybersecurity product evaluations? Not the evaluation of the cybersecurity of products but the cybersecurity evaluation of cybersecurity services, products, and technology? Safety testing is performed by third parties on toys to vehicles. What kind of third-party testing is done with technologies that are built with the intent to secure organizations? This will be a survey of current cybersecurity technology reviews and a discussion on ways that could further advance the validation of tools that are created to secure an organization.
Bio: Rob Beason has a broad range of industry expertise in cybersecurity for IT and OT environments. Rob had a career in the US Army and Arkansas National Guard as a member of the Signal Corps and has performed network security operations in a broad range of environments from small mobile data networks to enterprise class data center environments supporting the Oil Industry. Rob is a cybersecurity professional at Idaho National Laboratory whose mission is to build more cyber resilient systems which can endure adverse events with zero critical impacts to the safety and physical well-being of asset owners and those dependent upon those systems.
