As we enter 2022, I am optimistic for the year ahead. We have a board transition this Summer (get your nominations in now!), we have a strong list of programs to start the year (head over to the events page and register now!), and we have a few new leaders emerging in the Section ready to fuel our growth well into the future (Hycintia, Andre’, Mike – thanks so much for your involvement!). Even with all this positive momentum, I can’t help but think about how we can improve to better serve you, the ISA St. Louis membership.
Here are five the things I would like to resolve for the Section to do in 2022:
- Continue filling out our program list with great content to educate the Section on the latest trends in Automation. As a member, please stay tuned to our events page and announcements via email, our social media, and Connect.
- Continue to further adopt our use of ISA Connect. If you aren’t familiar with Connect, head over to isa.org, and select Connect from the top banner to log in. ISA has done a wonderful job building a secure online community for ISA members to learn, network, and collaborate. We need to take better advantage of this wonderful tool.
- Ensure a smooth transition to next year’s board. I am excited and encouraged by the new volunteers who have already raised their hand to be part of the future of ISA St. Louis. For the few of us who will be wrapping up our terms, we will be close by to ensure ISA St. Louis continues to provide excellent benefits and programs to the local membership.
- Establish a scholarship fund. For those that don’t know, we lost some ISA Fellows tied to the St. Louis Section in 2021. Their impact on the local Automation community deserves to be memorialized, and other local Fellows have pledged to establish a fund. There is still a lot of work to do to make this a reality, but it will be a focus of the current Board to finish this work.
- Reinvigorate our Education Outreach. Prior to the pandemic, we were working with a lot of local technical schools and beginning to reach out to the local Universities again to promote the benefits of Student Membership ($10 a year!!! Ten. Dollars.). We will get ourselves back on track here – the future of our industry depends on it.
