ISA Mentor

Motivate, Get Inspired, Lead – why ISA Mentor is so Valuable. Mentoring

ISA Mentor is a professional development opportunity that helps build connections by matching professionals early in their career with seasoned industry leaders. Mentor-mentee relationships provide inspiration and empowerment through meaningful conversations and collaborative goal setting.

The mentor program is designed to help members achieve professional goals, spark conversation, and share experiences. Program objectives include:

  • Provide guidance and support career development
  • Encourage an exchange of ideas and information
  • Connect members and build professional relationships
  • Provide professional development opportunities for ISA members

ISA Mentor is available to any Professional Member and runs from February - November of each year.

This is intended to be a flexible program. Mentor and Mentee matches will determine their own communication means and frequency. We encourage at least monthly communication to get the most out of the program.

Ready to Get Started?

Step 1: Profile

Mentors and mentees begin the process by completing a mentor or mentee profile. Make sure your contact information is up to date, add a profile picture, expand on your bio and communicate what you're looking for in the mentor relationship. Having a complete and accurate profile is crucial to the success of selection and matching.

Step 2: Enroll

Once your profile is complete, you will need to enroll as a mentor or mentee. Make selections for each of the program demographics. Demographics include: topics, location, specialties, and career stage. Please note that some fields are required for enrollment. The more information you provide, the easier it will be to make the best match. Keep in mind, in order to request a mentor or mentee, you must be enrolled in the program.

Step 3: Search

Enrolled mentees will then need to search the Mentor directory by a variety of criteria, such as an area of expertise, type of job or area of interest or location. The mentoring system will display a list of available mentors who closely meet the mentee's preferences.

Step 4: Request

Next click on the member's name that you're interested in establishing a connection with. The link will bring you to their profile page. Look around. If you think it's a desired match, look under their profile image for the Mentor Match badge, which when clicked will allow you to request a connection. If it's not a desired match, you can simply select the back button to return to your previous search results.

Step 5: Connect

After carefully reviewing the mentor profiles, the mentee will submit one request to the mentor of his/her choice. Once the connection is approved by staff, the mentor will receive a notification via email with a link that will allow him/her to log in to the system to access the mentee’s profile.
