@Phillip Swinson yes the new mission,
"Empowering the global automation community through standards and knowledge sharing",
does a much better job stating who we serve, why we exist, and how we do what we do. This was actually identified as an area of improvement during the joint ISA Staff and Executive Board summit back in August in Chapel Hill, NC. We spent a lot of time workshopping the strategic plan and decided to tackle the mission statement as well. We looked at a lot of good mission statements from other organizations and landed on this one as a group.

"Empowering the global automation community through standards and knowledge sharing" is such a great revision to the mission. It really shows the ISA is adapting to where it fits best as industry evolves. Kudos to whoever first suggested it!!

Let's all row in the same direction to "Create a better world through automation" (Our Vision) by "Empowering the global automation community through standards and knowledge sharing" (Our new Mission).

As we move into a new year, we need to focus on ISA's Strategic Objectives and determine how we can as sections support the objectives along with how we can leverage them to increase member value and active participation at the local level.
ISA Strategic Objectives

- Member Development and Engagement - Enhance member value and expand engagement opportunities to nurture and grow a more diverse and global community to advance the automation profession.
- Technical Education and Certification - Become the recognized leader in automation and control education, provide training, certifications, and publications to prepare the workforce to address technology changes and industry challenges in the most flexible and relevant ways.
- Leadership and Business Skill Development - Create opportunities for members to improve critical leadership skills, to build a network of industry professionals, and to develop the next generation of automation professionals.
