Driving Operational Excellence with Specialized Radio Network(450MHz) in Oil and Gas and Petrochemical

All the major national oil and gas companies in the region are investing in building specialized industrial wireless networks. This technical session explores how we can maximize this investment to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and profitability. Key applications include real-time monitoring, safety & environmental protection, and asset optimization. However, challenges such as cybersecurity risks, and legacy OT integration must be addressed. A critical next step is establishing an Engineering Standard to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant adoption across Saudi Arabia’s oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors. Mr. Cheng Jian (Carl) is a Vertical Solution Expert at Huawei’s Global Oil & Gas Business Unit, where he leads the unit’s consultation, design and implementation with oil and gas companies and suppliers on oil field digitalization projects. Previously, he served as the Head of Huawei’s Joint Innovation Practice in the Oil & Gas Vertical, working with major national oil companies on their digital transformation initiatives including Saudi Aramco. Before assuming his current role, his earlier experience was primarily focused on terrestrial radio communication systems.
