Microsoft Teams Meeting

Jun 24, 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM (ET)

Description

On Thursday, June 24th from 4:00-5:00 PM on Microsoft Teams, the International Society of Automation and the American Chemical Society Columbus sections will be holding a  joint webinar on the topic of “Automation & Instrumentation Advances in the Chemical Industry Part I.” Part I will feature Mr. Sean McNutt, Product Marketing Manager at Siemens, to discuss the hardware and instrumentation involved in chemical processes, including what’s involved for better and more accurate batching – especially as chemicals become more volatile. Part I of this two-part series will focus on automation and control systems and will take place in July. Join us for this webinar and earn 1 Continuing Professional Development hour.

Abstract:
Instrumentation available today is smarter and better performing than ever before. Built-in diagnostics take simple transmitters or control elements beyond their traditional I/O roles in a process. The instrumentation becomes a key part of the asset management, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks in the plant. With digital communications and on-board user interfaces, these latest advancements don’t have to come with a steep learning curve.

From batch to continuous, no chemical process is the same. The requirements demanded by a process mean that instruments have to be configurable for the specific application, while performing reliably and predictably. With wide selections of wetted parts materials, process connections, communication protocols and more, today’s process instrumentation is ready for the challenge.

About the Speaker:
Sean has worked with Siemens since 2005 and is responsible for product management and marketing of the pressure, temperature, and valve positioner portfolios for the USA. He has held many roles, including the proposals/strategic sales, technical support, and application engineering. Sean is able to apply his chemical engineering background (Bucknell University) as a product expert as well as the chemical industry ambassador for Siemens Process Instrumentation.
