Welcome to the Process Measurement and Control Division (PMCD), the largest technical division within ISA!

PMCD is organized within the Automation and Technology Department of ISA. Our primary goal is to advance the interests and knowledge of our members. PMCD supports nearly 6,000 members by operating Technical Committees, publishing an industry-specific newsletter and participating with other ISA divisions in technical symposia.

PMCD focuses on primary sensors, control hardware and software, and final control elements. Our active technical committees reflect these areas of interest:

Automation and Control Systems
Flow Technology
Pressure Technology
Temperature Technology
Level Technology
Field Calibration Technology
Final Control Elements

PMCD promotes a highly professional, responsible image of the process measurement and control industry through its various programs and helps its members to develop that image and to succeed in a highly competitive market. As a PMCD member, you gain access to a wealth of professional knowledge, you now have the opportunity to share your experiences and learn from your peers.

Volunteer of the year

Congratulations to Jacqueline Buskop, ISA Volunteer of the year! Jacqueline Buskop is the recipient of the 2021 ISA Volunteer of the Year which recognizes the volunteer leader who, in the previous year, has provided the most outstanding service to advance the mission of the Society unmatched by other leaders. As a first-year leader, she demonstrated a high effort of volunteerism.

Jacqueline stepped up to assume the Education Chair position on the Houston section board when the previous chairs resigned. She worked with ISAHS board members to communicate the difficulties of training in a completely online environment. She has collaborated with fellow board members to lead new training promotion initiatives that are unlike anything done in the past.

Jacqueline has become a leader at the Division level, acting as Social Media Chair for PMCD. She embraced the challenge of facilitating online engagement at the Division level on ISA Connect and LinkedIn by keeping posts aesthetically fresh and approachable while providing important information relevant to PMCD members. She took it upon herself to update the look and feel of the PMCD Connect homepage by creating an original font for PMCD, organizing content for the homepage, and keeping the page updated with relevant information. Jacqueline recognizes that the Society wants to engage YPs to ensure sustainability at all levels of ISA. Jacqueline has a keen interest in increasing YP representation in leadership at the division level and has recruited a YP to the board in the last month. Jacqueline will be assisting the new YP board member on strategies to engage the larger YP PMCD membership.

The team of  Fawaz Saleh Al-Hadlaq with Saudi Aramco, Riyadh, Eastern, SA, Omar Zayed Al-Zayed with Saudi Aramco, Riyadh, Eastern, SA  and Fawaz Adnan Al-Sahan with Saudi Aramco, Riyadh, Eastern, SA  were awarded the Excellence in Technical Innovation, Endowed by Honeywell UOP for Smart Dewatering.   Smart Dewatering is a digital transformation technology providing an automatic dewatering system by combining Sound Velocity Dewatering System and Interface Sensors. The technology embraces two smart sensors (one is sensing water inside the tank and one sensing fluid on the drainpipe), a controller, and a drain control valve.  Their contribution of  Sound Velocity Dewatering System (major component of Smart Dewatering) was first implemented at Saudi Aramco Riyadh Refinery, resulting in $8 Million savings. More installations of both sound velocity dewatering system and smart dewatering are ongoing.

In the last quarter of 2021, I will be leaving the PMCD Board in good hands in 2022 with our new Director, Sandeep Vysyaraju and his Director-Elect, Zain Ali. Sandeep has been DVP of ACARD (Automatic Controls and Robotics Division) and his experience with ACARD will only benefit PMCD. Zain is presently membership chair of PMCD and Section Leader for Pakistan and will bring his ideas for inclusion and diversity with him.
As PMCD expands its activities, we have more volunteer opportunities open. Check out our openings for volunteers
